Perhaps Italy's least traveled, least understood region, Calabria possesses a viticultural gem in the Gaglioppo grape. Like a riper, earthier version of Nebbiolo, the best of the wines from Ciro and Savuto are must tries for any Italian wine lover. They are sadly underrepresented at most stores, grab them if you see them.
