About Biondivino

Our shop is more like a 'living wine list'. Commercialism and scores don't matter here – instead we focus on quality and history. We cover Italy top to bottom and hand select our portfolio of wines from smaller producers, featuring many organic and biodynamic natural wines as well as the harder to find cult wines.

Drawing of the Biondivino Wine BoutiqueCeri Smith founded Biondivino Wine Boutique in the fall of 2006. She named it after her Italian great grandfather, Settimio Biondi, who arrived in 1906, the day after “The Great Quake.” Fast forward 100 years when Biondivino shook up San Francisco after being the first wine boutique to focus entirely on the artisan gems of Italy.

During the last 10 years we've become the Bay Area's source for high quality, traditionally styled Italian wines.

In 2012, Biondivino was awarded the prestigious Leccio d'Oro award from the Consorzio Brunello di Montalcino. The boutique has also been featured in numerous publications:

  • Food & Wine
  • The World of Fine Wine
  • Gambero Rosso
  • Decanter
  • Meiningers
  • Travel & Leisure
  • Details
  • Domino
  • NY Times
  • San Francisco Chronicle
  • CBS, and
  • 7x7

Ceri has also been awarded several individual distinctions for her contributions to wine including "Wine Curator of 2013" for San Francisco Magazine, Food & Wine magazine's 2014 Sommelier of the Year, and one of the Wine & Spirits magazine's top Sommeliers of 2015.

Biondivino often hosts in-store tastings with visiting winemakers and supports local food talent through pop-ups featuring Masak | Masak (inspired Malaysian cuisine) and Mattarello Pasta.
