Lombardy
Lombardy's wine regions are scattered over a wide area, and there is no strong style that screams Lombardian wine. Many of its appellations take on the personalities of its neighbors.
The wines that are most wholly Lombardy's own are the ones made from French grapes on the hills around Brescia and Bergamo. Franciacorta has the same production requirements as vintage Champagne, and can be just as good. Cab/Merlot blends and still whites from Chardonnay and Pinot Gris are also popular.
