From a tiny, isolated 0.6 hectare plot, 90-100+-year-old bush vines of Nerello Mascalese are hand-harvested and destemmed into a large Georgian qvevri, sitting for a total of 4 months on skins. Attractively aromatic with notes of dark cherries, dried fruit and flowers, followed by a spice-laden palate; licorice, chocolate, and savory herbs, and overall depth of flavor are wrapped in a backbone of acid and well-structured tannins. In youth these tannins can be mouth-filling and austere; with time they soften, becoming truly ethereal in nature.
