Bianco 'G' is Vino di Anna's flagship white wine, the 'G' here standing for Grecanico (known as Garganega up north in the Veneto) from 60+-year-old vines, and a small portion of Carricante (grape varieties that proved resistant to downy mildew, which decimated Etna’s vineyards of Nerello Mascalese in 2023.) The Grecancio is macerated on the skins for four days and matured in stainless steel; the rest is whole bunch, direct pressed and aged in chestnut barrels before blending all together. Enticing aromas of pear and white florals lead to layers of yellow apples and ripe citrus on the palate, along with peach, spice, and – as expected from Etna – a flinty, salty minerality. Mineral-driven and textured, it’s expressive, energetic wine, reflective of its high mountain provenance.
