Bianco 'G' is Vino di Anna's flagship white wine, the 'G' here standing for Grecanico (known as Garganega up north in the Veneto) from 60+-year-old vines; small portions Inzolia, Carricante, and Minella round out the mix. The Grcancio is Macerated on the skins for 3 days and Matured in stainless steel; the rest is whole bunch, direct pressed and aged in chestnut barrels before blending all together. Enticing aromas of pear and white florals lead to layers of yellow apples and ripe citrus on the palate, along with peach, spice, and – as expected from Etna – a flinty, salty minerality. Not as opulent as riper vintages, the taut acid structure gives an expressive, energetic wine, reflective of its high mountain provenance.
