The aromatic Prié Blanc is the only variety permitted in the appellation, and true to form Vevey Marziano’s has a compelling nose. Somewhat green, somewhat tangy, somewhat floral, somewhat round, any way you slice it it’s the most interesting wine on the table.
Blanc de Morgex et de la Salle is an unheralded appellation, to say the least. Even seasoned wine professionals in America generally are only familiar with one producer and their distinct squat bottles. That being said, it’s always good to keep an open mind (and mouth) when trying new wines. The whole DOC, nestled high in the mountains of the Vallée d’Aoste in northwestern Italy, has about 25 hectares planted, spread between 5 commercial producers.
