The pinnacle of Troisi’s Greco production, the moniker Tornante (i.e. “hairpin”) implies a double meaning here: the first being that in order to arrive at the lofty elevations of these vineyard sites, one must navigate a seemingly endless climb of switchback turns. The other, more personal and emotional reference represents a “return” to the old-school bottles and labels used by Vadiaperti in the late 80s and early 90s – a tribute to the pioneering figures of the Troisi family during those early years. The Tornante is a riveting Campanian white – striking both juxtaposition and balance between the tension and acid that results from this site and these soils, and the inherently rich and textural qualities of Greco grown in this region. Ample body and fruit weight runs headlong into high-wire electricity here; beeswax, wet river stone, and preserved lemon dissect richer elements of sun-drenched golden citrus, juicy nectarine, clover honey, mint, sage and sea salt.
