‘Firri Firri’ is wine with feet in two worlds: part textural, full-throated rosato, part nimble, chill-able Mediterranean red, comprised of 85% Catarratto, 10% Pignatello, and a dash of Inzoli, from 50 year-old bush vines on volcanic sand. An enticing copper color, this year's is perhaps some respects less rustic and more ready than the previous one: firm and spice-laden, boasting lifted aromatics of pomegranate, wild red berries, blood orange, and anise seed, with juicy texture, refreshing tannins, and a lingering, salty finish. Serious island vibes meet an effortless approach to structure and finesse.
