Rossese is a match for the Provencal red grape Tibouren, a varietal known for producing tightly-knit, mineral driven reds. The grapes are intricate and fragile due to the difficult growing conditions, affording preciously limited production. Grown on 600m ancient borderland vines in sandy, calcareous soils on the western edge of Liguria’s rocky hills that plummet steeply into the sea, the 'Rosso…se' unfurls a bouquet of dried flowers, Mediterranean scrub, and wisps of sea spray, while ripe, dark fruits like plum, black currant, and black cherry ignite the palate. Earthy overtones of scorched herbs meld with the comforting spice of cinnamon and green peppercorn for a lengthy finish. Grippy, unobtrusive tannins and mild acidity make for a soft, rich medium-bodied wine as complex as the landscape from which it was born.
