Named in reference to Andrea's daughter Asia, the Rosso d’Asia is perhaps the most straight and serious of the wines in his line-up. It’s a still red wine grown within the Buttafuoco dell’Oltrepò Pavese appellation, but with 90% Croatina in the mix it cannot use this DOC on the label. A big helping of Croatina renders a fleshy and broad-shouldered wine, brooding with spice and substantial but gentle structure. Muscular, savory and complex, the glass leads with wild blakc a and blue berreis, sour cherreis, wet forest floor, and black tea, the 2-month maceration on the skins bringing equal voice to the earthy and dark personality as much as it does the wine's youthful fruit.
