The 2018 Brunello from the Padellettis is a wine packed with plenty of gusto and guts, a vintage that will still likely benefit from being stashed away for a few more years but has plenty of give to it as it stands. Camphor, underbrush, coffee bean and tobacco aromas come to the forefront on this full-bodied Brunello; brawny and brooding, the concentrated palate features fleshy black cherry, orange zest, licorice and espresso set against a backbone of firm, fine-grained grip. The tannins are surprisingly well-rounded as it tapers off lightly structured with rosy florals, mineral pucker and a lovely freshness that makes it almost too easy to return to the glass for more. A total success in what was considered a warm and oftentimes challenging vintage! Drink 2025-2040.
