While the ‘TIN’ seems to be an absolute knockout bottling from Silvio each and every year since its inauguration in 2013, the current release perfectly displays Sangiovese’s innate ability to weather warmer vintages with verve, especially when farmed and crafted with the right hands. An homage to Silvio’s North African heritage (‘Tin’ meaning ‘clay’ in Arabic), the TIN is fermented and aged in the same clay amphora used by his partner in love and life, Elisabetta Foradori. Produced from the best selections of Sangiovese sourced from both of Silvio’s vineyard sites, the bunches are destemmed and fermented in unlined 250 to 350-liter amphora for six to eight months, resulting in a riveting albeit non-traditional take on Tuscany: waves of powdered red cherry, fresh-picked sage, menthol, tobacco and dried red and purple flowers are just the beginning.
