A rocking return to classic form after weathering the difficulties of the tricky 2017 vintage, Riccardo's 2018 Brunello classico shows aromas of savory herbs, crushed rocks, cedar and dried strawberry as it opens. The palate follows suit: round and supple, guided by juicy acidity, with depths of tart wild berry fruits contrasted by a pretty inner sweetness. Finishing incredibly fresh and only lightly tannic, this is, as always, a crowd-pleasing Brunello, a wine already with so much to offer but one that benefits greatly from a short time in the cellar, or, barring that, a lengthy decant. Of note, all of the fruit from Riccardo’s Fornace vineyard, was used to bolster this year's bottling.
