Rincrocca comes from a selection of old Verdicchio vines planted at the high altitude area of Castello di Jesi. The vines are grown in limestone-rich soils adding a mineral aspect. Winemaker Riccardo Baldi is a rising star in Le Marches as his finesse with the local Verdicchio grape is evident in all his wines.
Producer Riccardo Baldi is young (just in his early 30s!) but produces wine with a remarkable level of thoughtfulness and precision: fermentation on concrete, lees aging for 10 months, and 20 months aging in the bottle, with minimal sulfur used during the process. Screaming acidity, twinkling with lime zest and bitter almond, plays against an exquisite, creamy texture and a long finish. Like a good Chablis, this would be a natural choice with oysters, or partnered with rich, creamy dishes demanding a high-acid counterpart.
