Terrano is a variety with centuries of history on the Karst plateau in Italy and Slovenia, mentioned as far back as the fourteenth century. Aged for 36 months in old barrels, this is medium-bodied and intensely aromatic, with an abundance of red berries and lip-smacking acidity — all hallmarks of table-ready reds from cooler climes. Crushed wild berries, violets, sweet smoke, and hints of cloves unwind first, as notes of young strawberry evolve into rosy florals, with inner herbal tones cast over salty minerals. There's a bitter twang and hint of licorice on the finish, lending a truly alpine feel to the wine.
