A 50/50 blend of Sangiovese and Gamay del Trasimeno (the confusingly-named local version of Grenache — no relation to Beaujolais except maybe a glou-glou attitude!) Spontaneous fermentation, 6 days skin maceration, then aged in fiberglass tanks; like all wines in the lineup, no added sulfur and no filtering or fining. This red is the first to be released — medium-bodied, uplifting, gentle tannins, a spicy nose (with a little bit of funk to blow off), silky red fruits, and a cab franc-like savoriness. A surprisingly fresh, down-to-earth explosion of berries, cassis and pomegranate, full of energy.
