Dario's spiced and savory 'Jakot' is from 60-year-old Friulano vines - 'Jakot' being the winking, local nomenclature for native Tocai ('Tokaj') Friulano. 22 days of on-skin maceration followed by 24-30 months of aging in Slovenian oak barrels culminate in an amber wine of undeniable richness and outstanding length. Leading with notes of dried fruit and medicinal, mountain herbs on the nose, with time it subtly sheds layers to reveal a more fresh and vibrant side - apricot, lemon confit, yellow plums, mandarin orange, and candied ginger. Bergamot, sage, and toasted bitter almond round out the more savory nuances on the palate. Tannins are delicate, carried off with aplomb on a long-lasting finish.
