Sourced from contrada Monte Colla, Frank refers to this as his 'Hermitage' of Etna, as it comes from vines planted in 1946 to an extremely steep and terraced vineyard, which is exposed to sun and wind and sits directly north of Etna's smouldering peak. 100% Nerello Mascalese, the 2019 is deep and inward in character, but also remarkably pretty. Wafting up with dried cherries and crushed rocks complemented by nuances of rosemary and balsam, it then greets the palate with the silkiest of textures and ripe wild berry fruits, met by a core of nervous acidity that builds an energetic tension. This is like the proverbial iron fist in the velvet glove, tapering off long with dusty tannins, sweet tobacco, lavender tones, and a savory bitter twang of balsamic spice. An utter beauty, and it’s already showing so well.

In such circumstances, the order may either be held in storage at a local depot of the shipping company until appropriate identification is produced, or shipped back to the winery. Title to, and ownership of, all wine passes from Biondivino to the purchaser in the State of California and the purchaser takes all responsibility for shipping it from California to his/her home state. By arranging for transportation of the wine, Biondivino is providing a service to, and acting on behalf of the purchaser. By utilizing this service from Biondivino, purchaser is representing that he/she is acting in compliance with his/her local and state laws regarding the purchase, transportation and delivery of wine.
