The Munjebel CR sees fruit sourced from the contrada Campo Re in Castiglione di Sicilia, situated at the far Western side in the valley floor. The wines are typically profound and tannic, and more Nebbiolo-ish compared to their other crus.
Masses of crushed stone, ash, dusty sage and blackberry form a darkly alluring bouquet as the 2020 Rosso Munjebel CR grumbles up from the glass. This is pure seduction with textures of pure silk and vividly ripe wild berry fruits. It finds lovely balance through a core of saline-tinged acidity. Wonderfully lifted and refined despite the power within, the CR finishes crunchy and long with a coating of gently grippy tannins that frame the experience perfectly. It's almost impossible to stop at just one glass. Wow.
