The Munjebel Rosso is Frank's 'Grand Vin' or 'Classico' – his idea of what an authentic Northern Valley Etna wine should be. 100% Nerello Mascalese, it’s an ever-evolving blend of fruit from Frank's many parcels (including those used for his cru bottlings), and a wine that feels far more traditionally bent when compared to the raw and naked energy of Suscaru. At once brooding and energetic, it's as if lava ash and tone could be infused with raspberry and blackberry preserves. There's here's dark red cherries, wild mint, freshly cut flowers, grilled sage; a constant see-saw of savory, volcanic earth versus wild, ripe fruit. Deliciously complex, perfumed and ethereal, all supported by electric, almost pulsating beams of acidity. Stunning and wickedly fresh. Dangerously easy to drink.
