100% Pigato, hand-harvested from shale and slate riddled soils at about 300 meters in elevation (supposedly the highest altitude Pigato produced in the area), approximately 12km from the sea. Somewhat iconoclastic in its appeal, the wine eschews the standard ‘floral and light’ linearity so often seen of the varietal, indulging the palate in something more fleshy and textural. Lavender and honey mix with hints of pepper and savory green herbs. Those classically salty mineral notes intermingle with aromatic baking spices (cardamom, cinnamon, clove) in a sea of oily texture. Though the wine is perfumed and weighty, it maintains an elegant spine of acidity that keeps it tight and balanced.
