When in the right hands (a.k.a Francesco Cirelli’s hands) great Montepulciano, in all of its deep purple glory, drinks almost like cru Beaujolais. His bottling rocks pure and vibrant dark fruits - blackberry, plum and pomegranate - measured by sultry purple flower aromatics, a nicely herbal, oregano-ish savoriness and a refreshing acidic crunch that seems to be so often missing from this varietal.
