Champagne for the cool kids! From south in the Aube, this is the thirteenth edition of this characterful and unique Champagne, this year called Cuisine du Dimanche. The wine is made from Charles' own organic certified vineyards in the Vallée de l’Ource. 60% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Blanc; 80% 2022 vintage + 20% reserve wine from his solera style reserve perpétuelle that spans 1982-2022. 1 year élevage in 75% neutral oak and 25% small tanks. 2g/l dosage.
This isn’t an austere style, or a really delicate, nuanced style nor is it super rich either; it's just a really easy style of Champagne (meant to have by the glass at the bar). Playful, juicy, mildly oxidative, notes of spices and earth, fresh but ripe, good weight of fruit, gentle mousse, flowing palate, and a very good length.
