The straight Barbaresco has been the hidden gem in this range over the last few years, as it is once again in 2020. Bright, poised and full of energy, it’s a model of classicism in Barbaresco. The grapes come from the Faset and Rabajà vineyards, then are aged for 18 months in Slavonian botti grandi followed by three months in stainless steel and 14 months in the bottle before release. Vibrant acids lift a core of red berry fruit, kirsch, white flowers, mint and chalk. Medium in weight and beautifully delineated, the 2020 is utterly sublime. Time in the glass brings out gorgeous inner sweetness.
