The Baruffaldi family make beautiful single-vineyard, long-aging Pinot Nero (and of course some amazing Blanc de Noirs sparklers), but 'Sbarbatello' (meaning 'pipsqueak' or 'upstart') brings out the jaunty, light-hearted side of a grape often taken so seriously. Fruit is macerated for just a day and then vinified in steel, keeping things fresh, frisky, and vibrant. You'll find the epitome of crunchy red fruit here, with whiffs of balsamic and wet stone. With low tannins, this is definitely a chillable red, but its cooler tones help it transition from summer slugger to light fall dinner pairing with ease.
