The Veneto is a wine powerhouse, and the driving force behind its exceptional output is Prosecco. Prosecco DOC covers most of the Veneto and all of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, but the best comes from the hills around Valdobbiadene and Asolo.

Soave is the region's most popular white, while Valpolicella and Bardolino are the mainstays for reds.  Dried grapes are used to make sweet Recioto wines and full, high powered Amarone.
