Named in homage to the estate’s famed founder, 'Baron Ugo' comes from a single vineyard of the same name perched at about 570 meters elevation (one of the very highest in Chianti Classico), and is comprised of 90% Sangiovese with the traditional Chianti blending grapes Colorino and Canaiolo making up the rest. Aged in large botti of French and Slavonian oak (mostly used) for 36 months, followed by three more months in concrete vats and 6 months in bottle before release, the 2019 Radda to the max. Distinguished by its red toned fruit, there are hints of iron, leather, white paper, mint, and blood orange that gradually open in the glass, adding nuance throughout. Loaded with finesse and tension, it's just coming out of its austere youth and starting to really show it stuff; drink now thru 2039.
