This Chianti Classico is just about the purest expression of this terroir you can get: intense, precise, and elegant, with defined notes of black cherry, red currant, wild rose, game, and an herbaceous side of aromatic herbs. The more openly fruit-forward palate offers juicy raspberry jam, clove and star anise, and – with ten years under its belt, from a killer Tuscan vintage – is beautifully vibrant and rhythmic, with incredible overall finesse, a bright slash of acidity, and plush tannins. With harvest necessarily done by hand thanks to their steep slopes and terracing, 100% Sangioveto is fermented in stainless steel and cement wine tanks, then refined for at least 12 months in cement tank; aging is from 12 to 24 months in old French barriques, with further maturation in the bottle for another 12 months. This is old school Sangiovese, and you can absolutely taste the timeless charms of Tuscany it transmits.
