Dolcetto may play second fiddle to Nebbiolo in the Langhe, but the Grasso family takes this everyday Piedmontese staple every bit as seriously as their celebrated Barbarescos. Sourced from vines planted in 1961 in Treiso, Lodoli is fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel, preserving all that exuberant fruit. Juicy blackberries, ripe cherries, wild strawberries, and red plum mingle with hints of violet, licorice, and that classic Dolcetto bitter-almond finish. Fresh, supple, and generous, with soft tannins and a lively, savory edge. Deliciously uncomplicated, but with the pedigree of old vines and generations of thoughtful farming behind it. A reminder of just how satisfying good Dolcetto can be!
