Pure Nero d’Avola from Alessandro's younger vines, this year's rosato is the most lithe and lively we've seen in in years. A brief maceration gives it that vivid pink color – more rosey than its usual deep fuschia – and just a little grip; spontaneous fermentation and aging in stainless steel keep everything fresh and direct. Wild strawberry, sour cherry, and watermelon come first, followed by blood orange, hibiscus and a touch of dried Mediterranean herbs. There’s plenty of juicy fruit here, but the wine stays brisk and firmly dry, with bright acidity and a salty, slightly peppery edge keeping things moving. A faint tannic bite and twist of citrus peel sharpen the finish. Delish!
