An ancient, native Campanian grape often exploited and undervalued, not so in Luigi’s hands. 15-year-old Falanghina vines deliver plenty of ripeness matched by palate-jolting acidity and boatloads of salty minerality. Apricot, sweet lemon, wildflowers, dried and fresh herb aromas swirl in the glass, followed by pleasant hints of loquat, lychee, pineapple, and almond. That lightly tropical, touched-by-the-sea, well-balanced profile follows suit across the palate in a wine that feels rich and voluminous, but also weightless and pure. The most delicate of the bunch but no shrinking violet, this is grand cru Falanghina, dramatic and profound.
