Marco’s ‘Cibreo’ Rosso is pure, fresh, and unadorned, nodding heavily in the direction of the rustic yet transparently pure farmer Sangio that he was raised on. Pulled from his property’s younger vines and aged in a mix of steel tank and older barrel, this is a bottle that is nimble and straight forward, while still clearly retaining a memorable and transportational element; the kind of wine you might bust out once the guests have arrived, but the Bolognese still needs another hour on the stove. Brimming with zippy sour cherry fruit, this is a wine that gives and gives right out of the gate; wafty wildflower aromatics and a smidge of balsamic roll right into a juicy, mouthful of plum, anise, espresso, spearmint, sage, even a little game-y, roasted meat, all wrapped up in ultra sexy tannins and measured with tension.
