Iron, dried herbs, sweet dried cherry, mint, crushed rocks, white pepper and earthy notes give the bottle a good deal of aromatic complexity to match its intense, saline-infused core. Assuredly, this is still a wine in the very nascent stages of its development; the tannins are still brawny and acidity leaning toward the austere. While an absolute gem of a wine, this is decidedly old-school, classically insular Gattinara that should be destined for a quiet place in the cellar as it will likely require 10-15 years to be at its best.
