80% Nebbiolo with a field blend of Vespolina and Uva Rara rounding the blend, Andrea’s 2016 Bramaterra seems testament to the combination of a classic Piemontese vintage with a young winemaker truly hitting his stride. Fermented in wooden vertical tronconic tanks (called tine, in Italian), the wine is aged for 18 to 24 months before release, depending on the structure of the given year. A wine of striking finesse and deep Alto Piemonte character, Andrea’s 2016 bottling leads with the aristocratic polish and profound depth of Nebbiolo from its most historic homeland. Rose, red berry, baking spice and a delicate sense of ‘new boots,’ carried on delicate waves of juicy strawberry, wild cherry, white pepper and star anise.
