Mario Roagna wanted to make an older expression of Arneis that was reminiscent of a time when Arneis was known as 'white Nebbiolo,' and respected, as opposed to being seen an easy cash flow tool, as it too often is. His son Nino’s own interpretation as such, ‘Bizzarro’ is pure Val Del Prete sorcery in the bottle, not quite an orange wine, not quite a typical Roero Arneis either. Macerated on the skins for a few days, fermented in oak, aged six months in barrique and three in bottle. The result is almost an ancestral amber wine, delicate and surprising, and very fresh. Dry, medium-bodied, and herbal, with notes of pear, quince, chamomile, apricot jam, and hazelnuts. Charming in its very own style. Five big stars.
