Biondivino

The tiny hamlet of Corneliano d'Alba, nestled quietly in a somewhat forgotten corner of Piemonte's Roero sub-zone, seems a town steeped in history and winemaking tradition. The undulating hills that surround, celebrated for their sandy soils, have been home to vines for centuries, a steady stable of stalwart producers turning out classic wines for generations. Amidst all this history however, are some very, very new kids on the block! Giuseppe Amato and Kyriaki Kalimeri found themselves trawling the Internet in search of an abandoned parcel of vines upon which to make their mark (not to mention learn how to make wine from scratch!) Within days the two had stumbled upon a shabby half-hectare of old Nebbiolo vines on the outskirts of Corneliano, and with nothing more than a can-do attitude and a willingness to learn, Valdisole was born in the summer of 2015. Today, the two tend a few tiny yet biologically pure plots of vines, a mixture of Piemontese classics like Nebbiolo and Arneis, as well the rarer Moscato Bianco, Malvasia Moscata, Pelaverga, Favorita, and more!, avoiding any use of chemicals in the vineyards and opting for spontaneous fermentations and low to no sulphur additions in the cantina.
