Giovanni Arcari and Nico Danesi have emerged as two of the brightest lights in Franciacorta's recent resurgence, choosing to focus on the terroir and traditions of Lombardia rather than mimic those in Champagne. Setting themselves apart even further, They insist that great wine can come only from fully ripe grapes, something the majority of producers here seem unwilling or unable to achieve, relying on sugar instead and making highly technical wines. While lean and bracingly mineral in style, the 'Dosaggio Zero' is broadened by golden apple, ripe peach, pink grapefruit, and interlaced layers of floral lift. It's tightly-wound and focussed style is elegant, energetic, and immediately appealing.
