The Pligers' Sylvaner plants came from Germany and the Alto Adige (Sylvaner is said to be originally from Austria), with the Eisacktal in particular being one of two places that it excels (the other is Franconia in Germany). Kuenhof's is outstanding. Crushed green apples, lime zest, and rosemary aromas form the 2021's delicate bouquet. A rush on the palate of ripe orchard fruits and sweet citrus tones is perfectly offset by a core of saline-tinged acidity, as it tapers off spicy and remarkably fresh, leaving the mouth watering for more.
