100% Nerello Mascalese from clay soils up at an elevation of 220 meters, receiving those cool sea breezes. Fermented with native yeasts in steel and aged for seven months in neutral chestnut barrels. This is an island wine in name and taste. Lush aromas of black cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, orange peel and roasted chestnut. Fresh herbs, bright red berries & ample but by no means overwhelming acid carry the palate with a long finish of easing tannin reminiscent of an ebbing tide. Black cherry, blueberry, licorice, summer earth and hint of salt infuse the spicy finish.
