The 'All'Antica' is Scirto’s Rosato offering, a dark, tea-like rosé, that, like their other, full-blown Etna Rossos, is a blend of 85% Nerello Mascalese and 15% Nerello Cappuccio. Grown in the contrada Pirao, at 1000 meters above sea level, in Randazzo, the vines here are young for Scirto (60 years old). In an open top fermenter, it sees 12 hours on the skins, followed by 10 months in stainless steel; bottled unfined/unfiltered and with no added sulfites. A marvel in the glass, with gorgeous ruby and red velvety hues, on the nose you’ll find wild raspberries, currants, cherries, and dog rose with a spicy and smoky backdrop hovering over all. On the palate, it is fresh and full of flavor and complexity; violets, black cherry, a hint of lavender, with a satisfying mineral finish and black tea tannins. A stunning, unique, wine, and our favorite of the lineup!
