Mountain winegrower Enrico Togni tends the terraced vineyards his grandfather planted in Val Caominca, Lombardy. Here in the shadow of the Alps, ripeness comes gradually and yields are low, giving fresh, intense wines.
Enrico grows Nebbiolo and Erbanno. The latter is related to Lambrusco, and Italians speak about Lambrusco not as a grape, but rather as a family of grapes. The Lambrusco biotypes present depend on the region, but they share the common characteristic of high acidity. Erbanno is known as Lambrusco Maestri, and often used to produce a darker red version of Lambrusco. The grape is incredibly rare and Enrico may be the only producer making wine from Erbanno for export.
100% Erbanno, pressed immediately without any intended maceration. Aged
for 18 months on the lees before bottling, a la metodo classico. 'Martì Cuntrare' is an Italian reference to a stubborn child who does the contrary to what is asked of them.
Vibrant, herbaceous, and savory, with loads of red fruit and the terroir's signature glacial touch.
