We've said it before and we'll say it again: we love pink wine from Abruzzo, and Stefano makes some of our favorite. From an earlier hand harvest of his Montepulciano grapes, bunches are destemmed and the grapes pressed gently in a vertical torchio press with a brief two-hour maceration, leaving the wine with a lovely light red color and significantly less tannin. Like the rest of the 'Concrete' line-up, it ages in 20-hectoliter concrete tanks with native yeasts for 6 months, without sulfur or temperature control. The result is a mineral-driven pink wine where tart cherries and red currants are mixed with cinmmon, herbs, salt, and rosebud.
