All of the grapes for this wine come from the single 'cru' 'Bricco Boschis,' a beautiful ridge in Castiglione Falletto with wide views of both the sunrise and the sunset. This is classic Castiglione Falletto Barolo – combining the clear fruit notes of La Morra and Barolo itself (strawberry, red-currant) with botanical elements, supported by middling dark-chocolate tannins; it's firmer than La Morra, but not as beefy as Serralunga.
Dark and mysterious in the glass, the 2021 offers up an exotic mélange of black cherry, licorice, new leather, espresso, menthol and dried herbs. Full-bodied and still youthfully austere - a good thing for a wine that is destined for lengthy aging – the delicious palate delivers ripe Marasca cherry, black raspberry, truffle, crushed mint and star anise before a blood orange finish. This is an especially fine Bricco Boschis, a Barolo that finds the Cavallotto family in very fine form.
