'Rosso Sasa' is a 50/50 blend of the ancient local variety Pignolo and Merlot that spends a couple of weeks on skins and eighteen months in old casks before release. This is a little more fruit-forward and friendly than the Radikons’ other reds, but retains the deeply savory character that makes them stand out in the first place. The Merlot gives you dark, soft, plummy, blackberry fruit and supple texture; the Pignoli, structure, spice, and dry and raspy tannins (in the best kind of way). A stylish, rich, and seductive red wine with guts and verve but also plenty of elegance. Decant for an hour and watch it open up.
