'Sgarzon' is one of a pair of single-vineyard projects from Elisabetta that see aging in clay amphora as opposed to steel or wood. A brooding wine, the 2023 needs a little air, in the glass or in the carafe, to open up and reveal its full expressiveness. But it reveals a dense blend of berry and cherry fruit, combined with a taut framework of fine-grained tannins and racy acidity. Aromas of wild rosemary, lavender and thyme as well as mineral spices and stones lend the wine complexity and a broad palette of flavors that continue through to the biting, chalky finish.
