Back in the '90s – legend goes – Bruno went VinItaly, the preeminent Italian wine trade fair, with his wines, and absolutely no one bit. On the car ride back home to Campania, a friend told him that clearly no one wanted to buy from a nobody, a zero, if you will; it is from this formative experience that this wine – many years later albeit – was born. 'Zero' comes from 50-year-old vines, is spontaneously fermented, and aged in large used barrels for three years. The 2020 is hauntingly dark yet still youthful, with blackberries and wild blueberries met by spice and blood orange. This is elegance personified; red fruits and licorice add lovely depth as fine-grained tannins slowly saturate. Watch this one develop.
