‘Cisterna Fuori’ ('outside cistern') is named in reference to the ancient water cistern that sits directly in the center of the vineyard. Despite being just a stone’s throw away from the San Nicolo plot, this vineyard is subject to a drastically different sun exposure and temperature swing, resulting in an Etna Rosso of great power and complexity, a bit less demure than its cousin across the street. Savory and exotic spice give way to baked black cherries, as a sweet-sour tension quickly builds, showcasing purple and blue-toned wild berry fruits and saline-infused minerality. Silky-smooth, lifted by brisk acids. Fun fact: Ciro and Stef Biondi were married in the very heart of this vineyard in 2004.
