Luigi's most archaic expression of Taurasi, from centenarian vines planted by his grandfather, born from the earth, meaty, sanguine, and multi-faceted, with a surgical finish. Fermentation takes place in open-top, chestnut tini prior to being racked into large, old botti for a second year in wood, before aging at least two more years in bottle. It offers up amazing aromatic purity in its constellation of black cherries, fresh wisteria and mint, a base of dark soil tones, new leather, woodsmoke, and roasted meats. Pure and full-bodied on the palate, with outstanding focus and grip and a long, tangy, mineral finish, the old vines here giving the wine a more elegant and complete profile. Raw, wild energy meet with complex structure and texture — a wine that will age long and gracefully, for several more decades. Absolutely exceptional.
