Introducing 'Vendredi 13', an exclusive cuvée born from the 2021 vintage, an extremely hot and dry year on Etna, which resulted in a low-yielding harvest of ripe, healthy grapes. In order to produce a balanced wine, Anna and Eric decided to blend the wines that usually would be destined for their Palmento Rosso and Jeudi 15 Rosato labels, along with a white wine made from old bush vines of Grecanico, Carricante and Minnella, some with skin-contact. ‘Vendredi 13’ Rosso is the result, a lush, fruit-driven wine with attractive aromas of red cherries and wild strawberries, fresh acidity, and ripe, juicy tannins. Medium-bodied in structure, with Anna and Etna's signature underlying minerality, this drinks like what you want your Pinot to drink like, with the added interest of volcanic soils and Mediterranean climes. Named, tongue-in-cheek, to reflect the challenging year of 2021 for all; for some, Friday the 13th is considered unlucky while for others, it’s a day to celebrate!
